AFGE LOCAL 446 PARTICIPATION AND NOMINATION NOTICE

FOR DELEGATES TO THE DISTRICT 4 CAUCUS

January 24, 2024

Pursuant to an agreement between the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) and the U.S. Department of Labor,

Office of Labor-Management Standards (OLMS), OLMS is supervising a new election for the District 4 National Vice President to

fill the remainder of the current term. Nominations and a new election will be held at the District 4 Caucus on Saturday, March

23, 2024.

Local 446 is allotted 7 delegates for the District 4 Caucus.

Local 446 will hold a meeting to determine:

(1) Whether the local will participate in the District 4 Caucus in March 2024 where the delegates will elect the District 4

National Vice President (by majority vote);

(2) Whether the local will be represented by delegate(s), alternate delegate(s), OR a proxy delegate (all of whom must

be nominated and elected by name by a secret manual or mail ballot election and by plurality vote);

(3) Whether the local will: (a) authorize only its existing delegate(s) to cast the local’s full membership strength at the

District 4 Caucus; OR (b) elect additional delegates, up to its full complement, in addition to the existing delegates.

If the local votes to elect additional delegates, nominations for those delegates will also occur at this meeting.

At this meeting, the members may also vote on whether to fund expenses of the delegate(s) and/or alternate delegate(s)

participating in the District 4 Caucus.

Delegate Positions to be Filled: Delegates to the District 4 Caucus.

Qualifications to Nominate: Any member in good standing is eligible to nominate candidates.

Qualifications to Run for Delegate: Be a member in good standing of this local; be a member for one year of an AFGE local,

immediately preceding the closing of the nomination process; and not be a member in any labor organization not affiliated with

the AFL-CIO.

Candidates must accept the nomination at the nomination meeting or, if not in attendance, submit a written acceptance to the

election committee, to be received by Feb 16, 2024. The member making the nomination has the responsibility of informing the

nominee of his or her nomination.
